"Intentional Parenting"

June 17, 2007 / by kathyjoyful2day

Intentional Parenting - that was the title of the message by the pastor today at church.

It was a very good Father's Day sermon - especially it would be helpful for young parents - but still there was also some tips for grandparents too. I was impressed by the relatively young pastor's wisdom.

Some points that I remember - with the help of notes:

1. Pass on your faith to your children - educate them properly so that when the time comes to make choices they will have some understanding of what they are doing. (However - do Not push your faith on your children).

2. Pray for your children - let them hear your prayers. Let them hear you say positive things about them.

3. Dads should set the spiritual tone in the home. If parents don't do it then someone else will - TV or neighbors etc.

4. Recognize the power of your words. There is the power of life and death in the tongue.

5. TIME - spend time with your kids and grandkids. It is one of the very best gifts we can give them.

Blessings,

Kathreen

P. S. There were only 4 points in the sermon so I do not know why I have written 5 - but you get the idea . . .
